Business and Economics
At Southgate we believe that Business & Economics are not only subjects in their own right, but an integral component of everyday life in the twenty first century. We offer a range of extra-curricular activities including Young Enterprise and the Student Investor Challenge. In 2016 our Young Enterprise team were presented with an award at the North London Final.

KEY STAGE 4:
Gcse Business Studies Exam Board: Edexcel
Gcse Business studies provides a broad introduction to Business. Students will study a wide range of topics including Marketing, Finance, Economics and Human Resources. In Year 10 the focus is on Enterprise and Small Business. In Yr11 students look at large organisations and their functional areas.
OCR Cambridge National in Business Exam Board: OCR
There are three units studied in this vocational qualification. The units studied are: An Introduction to Business, Planning for Work and Running an Enterprise. Running an enterprise is a coursework unit that involves students writing up a Business Plan.

A-Level Business Studies Exam Board: Edexcel
A level Business Studies aims to give an insight into key issues in the news affecting everyday life. We introduce concepts and apply them to business contexts in order to develop a broad understanding of how businesses work.
Students are encouraged to use an enquiring, critical and thoughtful approach to the study of business, to understand that business behaviour can be studied from a range of perspectives and challenge assumptions.
A-Level Economics Exam Board: Edexcel
A level Economics aims to give an insight into key issues in the news affecting everyday life. Our goal is to allow you to understand the forces driving things like the price of oil, exchange rates and the level of unemployment in an economy.
Cambridge Technical (Diploma) in Business & Marketing Exam Board: OCR
The Cambridge Technical in Business Studies aims to give an insight into key issues in the news affecting everyday life. We introduce concepts and apply them to business contexts in order to develop a broad understanding of how businesses work.
This marketing pathway will integrate both traditional and new marketing techniques and media. The pathway highlights the importance of market research in creating a marketing strategy that can be delivered through co-ordinated, multi-channel marketing campaigns.
