A Level Performance Tables

Posted on: January 26th 2016

Government performance tables recently published with the verification of last summer’s results show a marked improvement in our 2015 GCSE and A Level results and our position in local league tables.

At GCSE, 70% of our students achieved 5+ A*-C grades including English and Maths, an improvement of 9%. The performance tables show that Southgate has advanced to third position amongst the non-selective comprehensive schools in Enfield.

Our Sixth Form students also achieved exceptionally well with 100% achieving A*-E grades. Our Sixth Form achieved an average points score of 221.0 per students per A Level, placing us at the top of the performance tables amongst non-selective comprehensive schools in Enfield.

Headteacher, Martin Lavelle commented: “This is a high achievement and I would like to congratulate all those students who have achieved great success. There is no doubt that we have established a clear direction with the highest commitment to ensuring the best educational outcomes for all our students. We are ambitious for our future and have our sights set on improving our results even further. Together with our dedicated team of staff and our hard-working and determined students, we are confident we can achieve this goal.”

Head of Sixth Form, John Carrigy commented: “As we top both the Enfield and Barnet table for the average point score of 270 per student per entry in our vocational courses (equivalent to a Distinction*), we look forward with enormous enthusiasm to the future particularly with the opening of our new state-of-the art Sixth Form facilities. There has never been a better time to join Southgate School and Sixth Form with an offering and opportunities for all our students to flourish.”
