The Big Give Christmas Challenge is LIVE!

The Big Give is your feelgood opportunity to give this Christmas and have your donation doubled!

Once again we are excited to be taking part in The Big Give Christmas Challenge this year, beginning today on #GivingTuesday at 12pm to 12pm on 8 December.

This week, we are going to raise £21,000 in individual donations, which will be doubled by our champion and pledge funders, (thank you!), to make a total of £42,000. This money will fund our vital Children Connecting Communities Project.

Donations must be made from an individual account through The Big Give website in order to be doubled.

Children Connecting Communities Project

Following months of isolation and social distancing due to the Covid-19 pandemic, children and young people are feeling disconnected from their communities, whether that is their Chickenshed community; where they live; their schools; their global community of ‘children’ or their community of inclusion advocates. They need support to rebuild these connections and establish new connections that enable them to share their message of inclusion more widely and crucially, to help safeguard their mental health.

Since many of these children already experienced disconnection pre-Covid, it is really important to them to create projects to reconnect with each other and their communities.

In order to help heal these feelings of disconnection, Chickenshed will support our children and young people to develop nine new projects that will enable them to create connections with their community using a blended delivery approach, in-person and virtual. Ultimately this will benefit over 1,000 children, young people and elderly members of the community. The culmination of each project will be a sharing with the community such as an event, a performance or film.

The outcomes of this project will be:

  • An increased sense of connection between children and young people and their communities.
  • An improved understanding of children and young people and how their skills are transferable to other environments to help them affect change.
  • Reduced isolation of children and young people who may have to continue to social distance longer term due to their vulnerability.
  • Reduced isolation of older people through new connections with children and young people.

At this poignant and challenging time, your donation will have twice the impact on the people who need it most.
