Ski Trip 2024 Switzerland Leysin

Posted on: February 19th 2024

During February half-term break, 60 students from Southgate school enjoyed a thrilling and exhausting week of skiing in the Swiss resort of Leysin. Conditions were warm, but impressive nevertheless and locals were delighted with the sunny days. Every day was filled with four hours of swoosh and swish; perfecting parallel turns, carving or just falling over in the jump park…not many can say they’ve skied with Lake Geneva in the background.

The evenings were just as fun as the days, with students taking part in night toboggining, a movie night and a visit to the local swimming pool for fun and games.

All students made excellent progress over the course of the week, finishing every single day with beaming smiles, laughing about the biggest falls or best wipe outs. The end of the week saw an opportunity to highlight amazing progress and achievement of students who excelled for various reasons throughout the week at our presentation evening.

My reflection on the week is one of great pride, firstly in the students who made excellent progress from absolute beginners to confident skiers and secondly in the amount of inspirational and fearless attitudes that were shown during the week. Lastly, thank you to the amazing staff who made it all possible, giving up their free-time to support the trip and to make sure students had fun and were safe throughout.

We look forward to more ski trips to come in the future.
