School Experience Programme
SOUTHGATE LEARNING ALLIANCE
"It was so informative and I loved seeing the contrasting lessons. I also loved the honesty from the teachers and students, they were realistic and didn't 'sugarcoat' the challenges that come with working in a school - it helped prepare us!"
Ash successfully trained to be an English teacher via School Direct Salaried route
For those interested in teacher training, SLA can offer you placement days through the School Experience Programme which will give you an insight into our aspirational, inclusive and diverse learning communities. A placement with us will provide you with valuable classroom experience. Our Subject areas are well staffed with a mixture of experienced and new colleagues. You will have the opportunity to observe teaching in your preferred subject and to talk to teachers about day to day life in a school.
If you are considering a career in teaching it is important that you are able to demonstrate your commitment and enthusiasm by gaining classroom experience prior to submitting an application via UCAS. Completing a placement on the School Experience Programme will support future applications for Initial Teacher Training and, as a provider of School Direct, give you the opportunity to meet current trainee teachers.
School Experience Programme 2021-22
Unfortunately, we are not currently able to deliver our usual programme of in-school experience days with our partner schools.
However, some of our schools produced virtual tour videos for their recent virtual open evenings. These videos are an ideal opportunity to get a glimpse of the school and a flavour of school life. Please click on the school name below for their virtual tour:
- Copthall School
- Christ's College Finchley
- East Barnet School
- Edmonton County
