Children Connecting Communities Project
Following months of isolation and social distancing due to the Covid-19 pandemic, children and young people are feeling disconnected from their communities, whether that is their Chickenshed community; where they live; their schools; their global community of ‘children’ or their community of inclusion advocates. They need support to rebuild these connections and establish new connections that enable them to share their message of inclusion more widely and crucially, to help safeguard their mental health. Since many of these children already experienced disconnection pre-Covid, it is really important to them to create projects to reconnect with each other and their communities. In order to help heal these feelings of disconnection, Chickenshed will support our children and young people to develop nine new projects that will enable them to create connections with their community using a blended delivery approach, in-person and virtual. Ultimately this will benefit over 1,000 children, young people and elderly members of the community. The culmination of each project will be a sharing with the community such as an event, a performance or film. The outcomes of this project will be:
